Hold your hand

Each of us carries our own unspoken memories, stories of our struggles and survival. We might all think of ourselves as travelers, strangers in this world, longing to find connection and a sense of belonging. I invite you to share your stories and listen to others, to walk in other people’s shoes for a while. And maybe, along the way, we will realize the things we are looking for are not so far away. Only when we step out, do we have the chance to find hope after the storm.

Yin-Tong Community

Yintong elderly Community, a historic neighborhood hidden in the Central West District of Taitai City, is the earliest development area in Taiwan. Most of the community members have been living in the neighborhood for more than 60 years. More than a quarter of the population is over 65 years old.
Zheng Queyan, who founded the Yintong Community Development Association in 2008, is dedicated to protecting the historic architecture and bringing new agency to the elder community member here.

Community Engagement

Hold your Hand is a community theatre project partner with the Yintong Community Development Association to help showcase the historic stories and building of the community.
I led the team to conduct a 10-week workshop for the elderly community members, using theatre games to invite the participants to express their life stories and their connection with the community. Then, we developed a play that was inspired by the participants' true stories and memories that happened in the community.

Hold your Hand

We invite the audience to travel through the alley of the community. We use toy theatre and street pedlar to interact with the audience to share the history, food, folk tale, and true love story that happened in this community.
